Away for the Holidays

Being Away from

Family and Friends for the Holidays can be Tough

Holiday season can be stressful on the pockets! You're spending money on food for Thanksgiving, money on Holiday gifts and on me for my birthday on November 26th (shameless plug). With all that being said, it's almost like the end of the year vacuums the last bit of your money. On top of that, you're away from your family and loved ones.

Being away from home on the Holidays on business or because you've re-located can be depressing. You may feel alone and no one cares or the pressure to insert yourselves into other families and so on. Let's not forget, you are enough! Spend time with yourself and learn YOU sometimes. Buy yourself some gifts!

Here are some self care ways to spend the Holidays loving yourself:

Be Good to Yourself

In a previous post, we talked about mental health and how important it is to appreciate yourself.  Same thing applies. Treat yourself well and you will feel sooo much better. If you're into oils and scents, melt some oils, dim the lights and binge watch movies. Sit in a bubble bath and read a book.

Fuck Expectations!

First of all, there's no right or wrong way to spend the holidays. Just because the apartment next door to you lit, doesn't mean you need to spend your money on a tree or lights unless you want to. You don't have to be picture perfect like a Hallmark card. If you want to take this time out to catch up on sleep, sleep. If you want to journal, journal. Set goals!

Community Work

If you need to get out of the house, go to a local church or non-profit organization and volunteer. Giving back to those who may have nothing or just talking to other people may lift your spirits.

If you're going to be away from home, take this time to treat yourself!

How are you spending the Holidays?
