BMI vs. ASCAP

Which PRO will get you paid?

BOTH!

Let's start with what each are.

BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.) is a performance rights organization which helps songwriters, composers and publishers get paid by offering music licenses to businesses.

ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) is a performance rights organization that protects your copyrights by collecting licensing fees by monitoring performance royalties.

These are very important PROs along with others for music creatives. Yes, there are many ways to make sure you are paid for your music, but as you can see, these companies work for you. With the MMA passing, it will now be easier to collect the coin. Think of them as your employee. They also have great EXPOS and events such as the ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO and multiple BMI events every month.

I know paperwork can be scary, but it's very important that you copyright your music and protect your publishing.
